Your Vision Board - manifest dreams and goals
Especially the time around the turn of the year invites us to set new goals and projects. A so-called vision board offers a pictorial representation of these goals and projects and is often created and tinkered with at the end of the year/beginning. But what does a vision board have to do with yoga?
Yoga is basically about focusing your mind through certain practices in order to achieve a clear mindset. Creating a vision board can be a wonderful mindfulness exercise in itself, allowing you to get to know yourself better and reflect on what your needs, desires, and dreams are. The creative process of a vision board can give you many insights and show you a path where your personal journey should go. The vision board can be created at any time of the year and does not necessarily have to be created at New Year's.
What is a vision board?
A vision board is generally a physical or digital manifestation of your personal goals. In vision boarding, one collects images and other materials related to the desired future and arranges them on a board to provide a visual and aesthetically pleasing reminder of where one is headed. You can also create your vision board with your friends or with your partner. This makes it a creative group project where you can inspire each other.
A vision board can be created on any material on which things can be glued or pinned, e.g. a pin board, cardboard, paper etc. There are no limits to creativity: your vision board is as unique as you are and can also be easily created digitally e.g. with Canva. You can create your vision board for every area of life or connect them all together. Life themes could be:
- Health & Wellbeing
- love & partnership
- Business & Finance
- Spirituality & Personal Development
- Heart projects & holiday destinations
Close your eyes for a moment and think of a wish or goal that you want to achieve in the near future or in the next year. Visualize it in front of your inner eye and perceive which feelings are noticeable and which inner images appear. Open your eyes again and write down what you saw and felt. Use these inner impulses as a template for your collage.
Why is a vision board useful?
The more clearly you know and understand your own needs and desires, the easier the path to fulfillment becomes. A collage in the form of a vision board is the first step. You start by finding out what you really want from life and why. A pictorial representation of your imagination will help you to give the whole thing a shape and a direction. Above all, inspiring pictures, quotes or affirmations help us not to give up in everyday stress and lose track when it comes to realizing dreams and goals. Sometimes it just takes visual stimuli to remind us what we want to work towards.

Shape your future with positive and inspiring thoughts and visions and you will notice that some things will then find their way to you. The creative process in which your vision board is created is a mental exercise in itself and gives you clarity and alignment.
The preparation: Consciously setting clear goals
- Who do I want to be?
- What should my life look like?
- Which heart's desires would you like to be fulfilled?
- Where are areas of life in which I can grow more?
- Which legacy issues can I let go of? What no longer serves me?
- What do I want more of in my life? (e.g. rest, time, financial abundance, adventure, closeness to nature etc)
- Where do I want to live?
- What is my environment like?
- What do I want to achieve?
- What things fill my heart?
For example, if you wish to have a good work-life balance for the next year, you could also create a mindfulness and calmness board that reminds you to take care of yourself and do things that are good for you.
Our tip: Although the vision board is designed to be goal-oriented, take the pressure off. Everything can, but does not have to, ie a vision board can also be created for beautiful experiences, adventures or other things. If you do your own research, you may see boards that are very structured, with high goals and clear expectations. Your own board should reflect your needs and have realistic goals for you.
Would you like to experience your yoga path more intensively and master certain asanas or meditation techniques? This can also be built into a vision board. As you can see, there are no limits to your imagination.
How do I use the vision board?
Once you have created your vision board, it is important that you hang it in a place that is clearly visible to you every day, for example in your bedroom, your meditation corner or a clearly visible living room wall. So you always have your wishes and dreams in mind and also nourish your subconscious with your ideas and imaginations.
Look at your vision board every day and consciously work mentally with imagining what it would be like to achieve all of your dreams, desires, and goals. Let your board inspire you again!
... and then get actively into action ! The vision board helps you to find a structure, but there are also steps that need to be taken to make your vision board a reality.
What visions do you have for your life journey? Be brave and dare to think big and adventurous!
